Night Mirrors, my upmarket Southern Gothic fiction, introduces us to lone wolf Andie Chambers, a woman in her 40s who survived a violent childhood only to grow up driven by the need for secrecy and control. She strives—with good intentions and bad judgement—to block the discovery of her sister-in-law Gracie’s desperate choice, but soon experiences harrowing nightmares, clashes with her suspicious husband, and puts not only her marriage and job, but herself and a fragile Gracie at risk.

Night Mirrors weaves itself into separate decades of Andie's life — as a child in the 1960s, and as a wife, mother, and professional woman in the mid 1990s, the story's present. In the 60s, Andie and her sisters spend summers in a backwater East Texas town where more is learned about the legendary absent father and his family history. In Black Springs, a Southern army town, we meet the girls’ mother and discover not only how this isolated family has deteriorated during the father’s absence, but also how his return throws them into a new reality.

In the present, a guarded, manipulative Andie tries to distract her husband Matt from the truth by enlisting the help of a dream therapist under the guise of working on her own mental problems. There, pieces of the puzzle come together even as Andie falls apart when old memories hint that members of her own family were involved in covering up a very different long-ago death.
